Publisher's summary

Gwendoline Delacroix finds herself fleeing Paris in a desperate attempt to escape the memories that haunt her in her French countryside chateau. Following the aftermath of WWII, she had become a widower and desperately missed her husband, Jean. Although her loyal and quirky staff does its best to keep her afloat, Gwendoline eventually takes charge and in a quick turn of events finds herself at the Hotel de la Belle Paix - the hotel run by her brother and sister-in-law in the Latin Quarter in Paris.

Over the summer, Gwendoline finds work at an animal sanctuary run by an eccentric aristocrat. With new friends, an elderly cat, and a glass of wine in hand, Gwendoline proves to herself and everyone else that there is life after lost love.

Entertaining? Of course! Joyful? Undoubtedly. Champagne? Bien sur! In Paris, nothing is predictable, and everything is extraordinary.

A great little cosy read / listen

Quinsey's 'Paris Mends Broken Hearts' is a sweet, feel-good, simply told tale - great for snuggling on the couch on a rainy day when you have an hour and a half to yourself. There are no sudden twists or surprises and the story is evenly paced, which makes for easy listening. N. MacCameron's narration is crisp and clear - though I personally found it a little too slow but this was rectified by speeding up the narration a little. Clearly a French native, MacCameron's nuances in the dialogue is delightful and gives the story that quintessential French-feel. Quinsey's uncluttered descriptions of Paris and MacCameron's authentic delivery took me straight back to the cobbled streets and cafes of my most favourite city in the world.
