K2: Learning about genres - In our UOI, K2 has been focusing on a range of story genres and vocabulary that they might encounter in each different genre. Here, the class were asked to place objects next to the genre where they thought they may encounter these objects.
Y2: Welcome Ms Julia! - We welcomed Mrs. Julia to our class. Our learners decorated the outside of the door and one wall of the classroom with wonderful letters of welcome. We spent some time reading and discussing the letters. Mrs. Julia answered all their questions and then used a t-shirt frame to fill in interesting facts about herself, e.g. her favourite colour, book, food etc. The learners then produced their own t-shirt frame. They finished the activity by illustrating their written thoughts onto a large t-shirt frame. These are now proudly displayed in our classroom. Well done Year 2!
Y4: Learning the thriller dance - The Year 4 students worked hard through the past weeks to learn the steps for the Halloween dance “Thriller” which ties in perfectly to our current unit about Celebrations. We collaborated with Year 5 and Year 6, decorated our shirts and performed amazingly! We are so proud of you, Year 4!
Y6: Exploring the fossil museum - The Year 6 students went on a learning journey that took them outside of the classroom to the Shell Fossil Museum to learn about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago. When visiting the Ho Chi Minh Museum, they explored the developments in the economic and political alliance of Vietnam and Thailand during the 20th century!
MY: Our aesthetics unit - The MY students began their new Physical and Health Education units. Year 7/8 are exploring the concepts aesthetics, balance and energy with the jump rope and underwater acrobatics. Year 9/10 began exploring development, movement, teamwork and function through hand based sports. Here, we can see Year 9/10 discussing what we need to develop to become an effective team player.

English at UDIS: Learning new sounds

Our learners in EAL have been learning some new sounds and reviewing those that we have already learned in the past. We have begun learning about traditional tales and the parts of a story. We were able to identify the characters and settings of some of the favourite fairy tales we have read like ‘The Three Little Pigs’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’ and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk”.
Thai language cafe on Monday 6 November - We warmly invite you to learn more about how we teach Thai language at UDIS from Early Years to our Middle Years Programmes. This will be a chance to learn about our programmes and how you can support the language development of your child at home.
